Essential Shiatsu

Kate's bio

After completing a degree in Drama and English I did various jobs in theatre and sport and then came across a Shiatsu training and I have very happily been in self employed practice for the past 30 years. Shiatsu means finger pressure in Japanese and is a wonderfully effective bodywork that is delightful to receive. Often described as Acupuncture without the needles as it has the same diagnostic theory of Chinese Medicine, it is a traditional Japanese acupressure massage which mixes well with deep tissue work and lighter fascial techniques. It is effective for a wide range of issues both physical and emotional and is usually given at floor level through clothing. If you want to relieve musculoskeletal pain, to balance hormones, to be supported through life changes, to ease stress and anxiety Shiatsu may be an enjoyable way for you to find balance. I have experience working with pregnancy, childbirth, menopause and other women's health issues. I love teaching Shiatsu both to students of the three year training at The British School of Shiatsu-Do, at Post Graduate level and at a community level. I teach a weekly online Self shiatsu exercise class and also sell very pure, therapeutic grade, fairly sourced essential oils.
