MODERN HOME DECOR CREATED FROM TRADITIONAL SAILORS’ KNOTS Hello, I am Janette Watson and I started The Lazarette in November 2014. After more than four decades of living and sailing on wooden boats, it seemed natural for us to use my knot tying skills to make new designs for nautical and rustic home decor. I sold my first Turks head knot over 30 years ago for £1 and a glass of sherry. I named my business after the locker that we used to keep our mooring lines in. Now it is the only place where there are no ropes! It feels wrong to say ropes in that context, as there is no such thing as rope on a boat. As soon as it is on board, it becomes halyards, lines or guys.
